Carpet Stain Removal
Carpet stain removal; here are a few tips that you might find helpful in containing and removing most or all of the stain. Before treating your carpet with a stain remover, test a small inconspicuous spot to ensure color fastness. Some carpeting may bleed when you apply your stain cleaner, if this happens you have guarded yourself from having it located in a highly visible area.
With newer stains remove as much of the material (blotting not rubbing) with a dry clean cloth. The stain should be treated, usually with a spray stain remover, until lightly damp do not soak the stain. Blot the stained area with a clean dry cloth, repeat as required. Once the area has dried go over the area with your vacuum cleaner to lift the pile of the carpet. For older stains follow the same procedure but let the stain remover soak in longer. Some stain removers have a built in brush, use small circular motions.
In summary; always blot stains, do not rub as this may fray and separate the carpet fibers, if you are trying a new stain remover always test on a small area first. Full strength vinegar has been found to quit effective at removing many common stains.
